In biology, the ecology stuff, and how the body works. To this day it blows my mind that we are all made up of tiny pieces which communicate with each other in such a way that we can speak, think, feel, create art and discover more about the world around us. It’s unreal when you think about it. Especially when you think of humans doing our thing on a planet filled to the brim with other life.
Discovering new things. Like did you know that a feather and apple would actually fall at the same speed if you dropped them from a tall building and reach the ground at the same time if it wasn’t for Earth’s gravity. This is because of the way gravity makes heaver things fall faster – so the apple drops faster than the feather to the ground in reality (we call that acceleration due to gravity and a guy called Isaac Newton discovered this about 400 year ago). I loved learning these things that you would not know unless you studied science. Without discoveries like this, planes would not fly today..
I loved how physics would continuously blow my mind. I had a similar experience to what Rory described, when they taught us about light. It took me a while to wrap my head around the fact that everything we see is just the reflection of light rays bouncing off objects and difference wavelength being absorbed, or reflected, creating colours. Then getting to learn how our eyes transmit that information to the brain; It was fascinating to me.
My favorite thing about science when I was in school was the chance to explore the world around me and to get the questions I had at the beginning of the class answered. 🙂 My favorite labs were PHYSICS! I also loved my applied maths classes as they would show me where maths was applied in the world around me, but in physics labs we got to build electrical circuits, which I really enjoyed !!!! 🙂 🙂 🙂

To be absolutely honest, it was feeling excited about learning things I was interested in and the satisfaction of being good at the subject.
If I had to highlight one thing though, it would be doing experiments! Reading and learning about things in class was great but testing them out in the lab and actually seeing ‘science in action’ was really fun! My favourite experiments were in chemistry actually. I loved seeing liquids change colour, evaporate at different temperatures, and sometimes do unexpected things! 😀
