My research helps scientists understand how Earth observation satellite technology can help them understand changes in their country like if their cities are growing too fast and they need to plan for that or if their natural areas like forests and wetlands are being built on by humans for selfish reasons, like chopping down forest to sell the wood to make money. I think my research helps planners and scientists know this kind of thing can seen from space so they can plan for a better future for their country and stop people breaking the law.
I am currently constructing a Tupper Sat which is like a lunchbox but with an experiment on board, which will then be launched using a weather balloon!!! 🙂
Its aim is to detect the concentration of Carbon Dioxide up to 38km altitude!!! We hope these results may be of use, once we launch the weather balloon at the end of April. 🙂
We do research here but we’re more builders than researchers! Our way of helping people is to create the technologies and built spacecrafts to take water (and other resources), from asteroids and bring them to off world settlements. We think helping people colonize other planetary bodies is going to save civilisation in the long run.
In the meantime, our products and systems are being used on Earth observation satellites which provide the data that Brian helps people figure out how to use. 🙂
We study environmental problems which are common to all of us. Using satellite data, we identify the location of such problems so that resources can be managed correctly. Remote sensing saves money and you don’t have to go to each location to find those out on your own.
