I don’t work at a University, I work in private commercial industry. I wouldn’t mind going back to a University setting someday but I absolutely love the freedom of working in the industry! I love how fast projects move. We go from customer request, to delivering a flight unit in just a few months! In University funding is hard to come by and projects move very slowly.. I don’t miss that!
Once I finish my masters degree in space science and technology, I want to enter the space industry in the area of Space Systems Engineering and Spacecraft Operations. 🙂 🙂 🙂
I have carried out research in universities and I loved it, but I find research and development in industry so much more fulfilling for me. 🙂 🙂 🙂
At the moment I would prefer to be working in industry or for the European Space Agency. It is fast paced and you work together in teams a lot of the time to solve problems which I find very interesting. You also get to see satellites launching that you or colleagues of yours have worked on and that is a cool experience.
I really enjoyed university though and always wanted to get a PhD, so I guess I will end up back there one day! One of the huge rewards of university though is the opportunity to do really cutting edge research, and make an amazing discovery!
