I’m an electrical engineer originally, but I don’t see myself as being stuck in that specific area. In our university, all engineers begin in the same course in first year and then choose their branch of engineering in second year. I think that’s good because they get direct experience of each area and find out what they enjoy most before choosing. When an engineer finishes university, he/she isn’t stuck in that one branch – there are ways to switch later and some jobs just aren’t specifically one type anyway. Personally, I like programming and digital technology a lot, so electrical engineering was perfect for me. I guess technological engineering would be similar, but that wasn’t an option where I went to college.
