I studied French until I was 16, then I decided to focus on Sciences instead. I still try and learn languages using an app called Duolingo, because it’s really helpful when I go on holiday or work trips. I’ve learned a little bit of Hungarian, Mandarin, Norwegian, Spanish, Italian… but not enough to speak it fluently!
I studied French in secondary school.
It was useful, as we often go to France on holidays. I’ve always found French people to be really friendly, and are quite tolerant of my unusual accent and mispronunciation of their language.
I think some of them at least appreciate that I make an effort.
Keep following your instincts and passions Orla, French is a beautiful language and the fact of speaking many languages will open many doors to you in the future 🙂
