I live in Dublin 14 with my family, love travelling, photography/videography, and scooting around with my daughters.I develop an Air Quality monitoring app as I care a lot about sustainability.I record videos; reviewing European Fintechs like Revolut, and sustainability topics on my YouTube channel, and produce cooking videos on my Instagram.I also blog on social issues & consultations on Irish public policy topics which I am passionate about as I believe in a better future for us all. Here’s a video I made about eScooters:

Professionally, I am a degree qualified Engineer, and a Chartered Engineer Member of the Institution of Engineers Ireland. My career since 2007 has seen me principally based in Ireland working in Building Services Engineering, large scale industrial Control & Automation engineering, Technical Sales for a data centre start-up, and in Finland building Design Management processes on a Greenfield Nuclear Power Plant.
-
My Typical Day: My typical day is to help other engineers design, build & bring to life very detailed designs in as short a time as possible
-
What I'd do with the money: Design & prototype an outdoor rated, simple & cheap display for an air quality display, so that neighbours can see what air quality the neighbourhood has.

I am very keen on seeing improvements to our air quality. As I learned as an instrumentation & controls engineer: if you can measure it, you can control it. If I win the £500 prize money, I would design & prototype an outdoor rated, simple & cheap display for an air quality display, so that neighbours can see what air quality the neighbourhood has. I would base it on a simple traffic light system, similar to what my free app https://miasma.app uses, and I would try to integrate it with the SmartCitizen air quality sensor.
I would hope the design & Bill Of Materials would be striaghtforward enough to be accessible to people of wide ability levels, and would document how to build it on my YouTube channel. -
