February/March 2016 Zones

I’m an Engineer, Get me out of here will run for two weeks from Monday 29th February to Friday 11th March 2016. With 2 different zones, we’re looking for 10 engineers and have space for more than 600 students. Here is a list of the zones we will be running, or if you want to skip straight to the application, teachers register here: iaeie.ddev.site/teacher-registration, engineers apply here: iaeie.ddev.site/engineer-apply. Coding Zone Once upon a time codes were for sending secret messages between special agents. Now that coded computer programmes run, rule and create so much of the modern world, they’re still mostly hidden from view… Until now! Engineers in the Coding zone could be working on the communication systems connecting companies across the world, or researching powerful ways to make sense of huge data sets, or developing the websites you use everyday to inform/distract yourself. They might use coding skills to analyse the results of the Large Hadron Collider, or to model new fuel … Continue reading

November 2015 Student Winners

After every event we ask the engineers and moderators to select the students who stood out for them; the students they thought asked the best questions, or engaged most in the live chats. Well done to everyone who took part in November’s Metre Zone. There were so many interesting questions, and comments, but there could only be one winner… So, for fantastic engagement during the event: Saoirse from Gaelcholaiste Chomain will receive a certificate and a gift voucher! After taking part in I’m an Engineer, we ask the students to answer a few questions to help us gauge their attitudes towards engineering and science. We randomly choose one student who filled in the questions to win a voucher. That student is Elena.
